Overview

On our 8 Days Rwanda Gorilla, Big Five animals, Cultural Tour, and Nyungwe Forest National Park. This tour allows you to explore the best of Rwanda’s offers on your Safari to Rwanda.

You will visit the Genocide Museum en route to the Park or after your Gorilla Trek on the last day.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival at Kigali International Airport and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park for overnight.

You will be picked up by our safari guide from either a guest house/Lodge in Kigali if you arrive a day before or from Kigali International Airport if you arrive in the very early morning hours, then drive to Volcanoes National Park in South Western Uganda where you will spend two nights.

This journey is about a 2-3 hour’ drive but very enjoyable as you will be driving through various local communities and towns along the road, the drive also takes you through the beautiful cascading and rolling hills of commonly tagged Switzerland of Africa.

You will also have an opportunity for an en-route stopover for a photography and sightseeing experience.

Accommodation: Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge.

Accommodation Type:  Mid-range but open to upgrade

Meal Plan: Full Board.

Drive time: 2-3 hours’ drive.

Day 2
Rwanda Gorilla tracking experience day.

After early morning breakfast, you will drive to the Park headquarters for registration and join others for the Rwanda gorilla trekking briefing about the dos and don’ts during your Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour.

Once this is done, you will trek through the montane forests of Volcanoes National Park with your ranger guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you from half an hour to three-quarters of the day.

During your trek, you will have a chance to encounter other wildlife including, various bird species and tree species which your guide which give you information about to make the trek enjoyable.

This is indeed an extraordinary feeling to be with these beautiful endangered Creatures.

Day 3
Transfer to Nyungwe National Park for overnight.

You will be picked up by our safari guide from either a guest house/Lodge in Kigali if you arrive a day before or from Kigali International Airport if you arrive in the very early morning hours, then drive to Nyungwe National Park in South Western Uganda where you will spend two nights.

Drive time:2 – 3 hours’ drive

Day 4
Chimpanzee tracking experience day.

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the Park headquarters for registration and join others for the chimpanzee trekking briefing about the dos and don’ts during your Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking Tour.

Chimpanzee trekking starts in the morning and it’s best to carry a day pack where you have a couple of liters of water, long trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, a rain jacket, hiking boots, and a hat.

There will also be a maximum of over 8 people in your group that sets out to track the chimpanzees.

These chimps in Nyungwe forest have been and are being habituated which means that they are used to human beings.

During your trek, you will have a chance to encounter other wildlife including, various bird species and tree species which your guide which give you information about to make the trek enjoyable.

This is indeed an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful closest cousins to humans as they play in Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Day 5
Nyungwe Forest Canopy Walk and the Hike.

After your breakfast at the lodge, you will go for a canopy walk and hike. This canopy walk is also the first treetop forest canopy walk in East Africa and the third in all of Africa.

This canopy walk is 50 meters above the ground and this can also be a dizzying height for some people, you will see the monkeys move around in the treetops, the birds that are flying above you and below you, and a beautiful view of the huge Nyungwe forest.

It’s also an amazing sight, break-taking, and a lifetime experience.

Day 6
Transfer to Akagera National Park.

On this day you will drive to Akagera National Park for 2 nights at Akagera Game Lodge, the park is located along the border of Rwanda with Tanzania in the east of Rwanda.

Akagera National Park is known for its Big Five with a variety of habitats including grassland, acacia woodland, forest, and water which has enabled it to sustain a wide variety of wildlife among them the Big 5 animals which you will enjoy viewing while your stay here.

Meal Plan: HalfBoard/ with parked Lunch.

Drive time: 4-5 hours’ drive

Day 7
Wildlife viewing in Akagera National Park.

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for game drives for wildlife viewing you will have a chance to see the Big Five animals depending on your Luck that day, big herds of Buffalos, Antelopes, Uganda Kobs, Warthogs among the wildlife and return to the lodge for lunch then later in the afternoon you will do a boat cruise on River Akagera. T

his boat cruise offers a chance to spot species of water birds, and many wild animals as they flock to this channel for drinking water.

Day 8
Drive back to Kigali to end the tour via the Genocide Museum/City Tour in Kigali.

After your breakfast, you will be driven to Kigali for your post-tour accommodation or you may choose to fly out of Rwanda today.

You will use the same tour route as when you came through.

Drive time:2-3 hours drive.
