Overview

The 8-Day Uganda Primate and Game Safari is a safari in Uganda that gives you a lifetime opportunity to track and meet mountain gorillas and chimpanzees as well as view wildlife in their habitats.

This tour will take you through the central, southern, and western parts of Uganda, and will give you a chance to as well drive through the traditional towns of Uganda.

You will cross the Equator line twice and will get a chance to meet the local communities of Uganda along the way.

Driving through the beautiful lush rolling hills of the Kigezi region to the misty, magical tropical rain forests of Bwindi National Park where you will have a chance to track and encounter the magnificent mountain gorillas in their habitat the forest of Bwindi where you will spend one hour on each trek with them once you find these mighty gentle giants.

This tour is open to any date throughout the year and depending on availability we will book you your gorilla trek in any of Bwindi’s sectors this tour can be tailored to best fit your budget and interests ranging from accommodation requirements, transport, and meals throughout the tour.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport for your 8 Day Uganda Primate trekking and Game Safari.

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park through the small towns of Uganda. Make a stopover at the Equator line for a photograph and some informative talks and experiments. Enjoy an en-route game drive as you drive to your lodge/hotel for check-in and lunch. After lunch, you will have a boat on the lake in search of hippos, crocodiles, and water birds among others.

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Lodge: Lake Mburo Safari Lodge/Rwakobo Rock Lodge.

Drive time: 5-6 hours

Day 2
Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park.

You will be picked up by our safari guide from either a guest house/Lodge in Entebbe or Kampala if you arrive a day before or from Entebbe International Airport if you arrive in the very early morning hours, then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in South Western Uganda where you will spend two nights.

This journey is about 8-9 hours drive but very enjoyable as you will be driving through various local communities and towns along the road, the drive as well takes you through the beautiful cascading and rolling hills of the Kigezi region. You will also have an opportunity to cross the equator where you will have an en-route stopover for photography and equator experience then you will drive to Mbarara for en-route lunch after proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable forest for overnight.

Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge or Trekkers Tavern Cottages.

Day 3
Gorilla Tracking Experience Day.

Uganda Primate

After early morning breakfast, you will drive to the Park headquarters for registration and join others for a gorilla trekking briefing about the dos and don’ts during your Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour. Once this is done, you will trek through the tropical rainforest of Bwindi with your ranger guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you from half an hour to three-quarters of the day.

During your trek, you will have a chance to encounter other wildlife including, various bird species and tree species which your guide which give you information about to make the trek enjoyable. This is indeed an extraordinary feeling to be with these beautiful endangered Creatures. You will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and thus contributing to the conservation of mountain gorillas.

Day 4
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park.

On this day you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for 2 nights at Elephant Hab Lodge/Buffalo Resort Lodge, the park is located along the Equator in South-Western Uganda.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular and diverse conservation area situated in the western Rift Valley floor with a variety of habitats including grassland, acacia woodland, forest and water which has enabled it to sustain a wide variety of wildlife among the Big 4 animals which you will enjoy viewing while you stay here.

Accommodation: Elephant Hab Lodge/Buffalo Resort Lodge.

Day 5
Wildlife viewing and Boat cruise on Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National park.

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for game drives in Kasenyi plains for wildlife viewing you will have a chance to see the big herds of Buffalos, Antelopes, Uganda Kobs, and Warthogs among the wildlife and return to the lodge for lunch then later in the afternoon you will do a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel by far known as the highlight of all activities in this park.

This boat cruise offers a chance to spot over 400 species of water birds, and many wild animals as they flock to this channel for drinking water above all, Kazinga channel has the highest concentration of hippos in the whole world

Day 6
Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.

On this day after your morning breakfast, you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park for 2 nights at Chimpanzee Forest Guest House, the park is East of Rwenzori Mountain captured with tropical rain forests. The park is best known for its 13 species of primates which include Uganda’s largest population of Chimpanzees and other large mammals such as Elephants, Buffalos, and giant forest hops which are however really seen.

Drive Time: 2-3 hours

Day 7
Chimpanzee tracking experience and Bigodi Wetland walk.

Day 8
Drive back to Entebbe/Kampala to end the tour.

After your breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala or Entebbe for your post-tour accommodation or you may choose to fly out of Uganda today.
