Overview

The 4 Days Uganda Double Gorilla Habituation tour is a gorilla safari in Uganda that offers you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in the gorilla habituation experience and meet the rare mountain gorillas twice during the tour, spending extended time observing them closely in their natural habitat alongside researchers.

This tour will take you through the central and southern parts of Uganda, giving you a chance to drive through traditional towns, cross the Equator line twice, and interact with local communities along the way while enjoying the beautiful rolling hills of the Kigezi region and the misty, magical tropical rainforests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The gorilla habituation experience takes place in the Rushaga sector, where you will join researchers and trackers and spend up to four hours observing and learning about the magnificent mountain gorillas in their forest habitat.

This tour is available on any dates throughout the year, and depending on permit availability, we will secure your gorilla habituation permits in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi, and the experience can be customized to best suit your budget and interests, including accommodation options, transport arrangements, and meals throughout the tour.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

You will be picked up by our safari guide from either a guest house/Lodge in Entebbe or Kampala if you arrive a day before or from Entebbe International Airport if you arrive in the very early morning hours, then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in South Western Uganda, where you will spend two nights.

This journey is about an 8-9-hour drive, but very enjoyable as you will be driving through various local communities and towns along the road. The drive also takes you through the beautiful cascading and rolling hills of the Kigezi region. You will also have an opportunity to cross the equator, where you will have an en-route stopover for photography and equator experience. You will drive to Mbarara for en-route lunch, and then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for overnight.

Day 2

First Gorilla Habituation experience.

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the Park headquarters for registration and join others for a gorilla habituation briefing about the dos and don’ts during your Uganda Gorilla habituation Tour. Once this is done, you will trek through the tropical rain forest of Bwindi with your ranger guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you from half an hour to three-quarters of the day.

During your trek, you will have a chance to encounter other wildlife, including various bird species and tree species, for which your guide will give you information to make the trek enjoyable. This is indeed an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful endangered Creatures. You will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and thus contributing to the conservation of mountain gorillas.

Day 3

Second Gorilla Habituation experience.

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for registration and join others for a gorilla habituation briefing about the dos and don’ts during your Uganda Gorilla Habituation Experience. Once this is completed, you will trek through the tropical rainforest of Bwindi with ranger guides and researchers to locate the gorillas, which can take anywhere from half an hour to three-quarters of the day.

During your trek, you will have a chance to encounter other wildlife, including various bird species and unique tree species, while your guide shares information to make the experience more engaging and educational. You will be awarded a certificate for participating in the gorilla habituation experience and contributing to the conservation of mountain gorillas.

Day 4

Drive back to Entebbe/Kampala to end the tour.

After your breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala or Entebbe for your post-tour accommodation, or you may choose to fly out of Uganda today. You will use the same Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour route as when you came through.

Meal Plan: Half Board.

Drive time: 8-9 hours’ drive.
